THE BEGINNING:   (From the Chairman)

After my first visit in 1984, I had another chance of going inside Malacañang in 1986, wondering more about why Philippines was still recognized as a third world country!

It was during my last visit to the Presidential Palace that inspired me to return again and again! I had a dream that someday, I will be back and bring blessings to the poorest among the poor. But the big question is how? It reminded of a saying that “small potatoes without roots will never grow unless it is watered and fertilized!”

In 2003, I was advised by the elders to start a Foundation and have it registered because they saw in my heart the passion to help the needy and perhaps offer some amount of cash, rice, balikbayan packages and more. But I thought it was not good enough to sustain them for a long time. May of 2003 came and I finally decided to open and register a Foundation and chose the name NB Maharlika International Foundation, Inc. It was the beginning and birth of the said Foundation.

NB Maharlika International Foundation Inc. (NBMIFI), was duly organized and registered under existing laws with the Security and Exchange Commission on May 23, 2003 with registration # CN200311591 and office address at 300 Strata St. P. Guevarra, San Juan, Metro Manila. The Company’s main purpose is to develop a livelihood project, promote the country’s economy; and provide financial assistance to the less privileged.

On its first year in 2003, after registration, the Company did not immediately operate and took a year before the Board of Trustees and Officers decided to sit down and discuss the Foundation's operation in Umingan, Pangasinan with no further delay. The name NB Maharlika International Foundation Inc. was established as a Christian outreach program. It was introduced to the public by simply word of mouth. Members organized meetings and invited volunteers to join the mission crusade. The Board of Trustees contributed some monetary assistance to help for the expenses.

It was from 2004 to 2005 that NBMIFI had established a strong relationship with its members. I, being the Chairman kept myself busy continuously seeking ways and means on how to provide for the needs of my members. Upon my return in 2005, I witnessed how great the enthusiasm of every member was and they suggested that our operation becomes active as soon as possible. Gradually, the members worked together to rebuild the operation even during times I was not physically present and they have to do the tasks by themselves.

In the year 2006, storm Reming hit Bicol/Albay and many families were severely devastated by the typhoon. The                                                       company, NB Maharlika International Foundation Inc. through its Board of Trustees and Officers decided to help the                                                victims impacted by the calamity. Assistance was extended not only to the members but to non-members as well.                                                     They were offered relief goods, medicines and first aid kits; and moral comfort to somehow alleviate the difficulty                                                     and pain that they have to endure.

The other purpose of this Organization was to support the local farmers, which comprised the majority of the                                                             members at that time. To augment the output and market shares of their harvest. But because of the severe                                                             devastation that destroyed most of their crops, there was no other option left but to hand out relief goods, groceries and other basic necessities like medicine to support their immediate and emergency needs.

Moreover, from 2008 to the present, NBMIFI has been moving towards implementation of its Objectives particularly in the Livelihood Program. As of today we continue to offer members certain amount of goods where its distribution is scheduled by every Household’s Barangay.

NB Maharlika International Foundation is not intended as a display of wealth or affluence but merely a  vehicle in the fulfillment of our covenant with God Almighty. As the Founder says: “I have always prayed for God to bless me so I may share with others, to feed me so I may feed those who hunger and thirst. And I will not forget the down- trodden. It is just the concern, a genuine concern for those who are in lack”.
